Help!! 5 weeks out and have work travel|

Hola to everyone,
I am going to 5 weeks out this saturday from the NGA June 7 show in G-boro, NC. My question is that I have to travel from May 4 - May 10 for work for training. Two issues: Food - Any advice on what to bring and how. I am following the Bev Low carb 3C diet, I weight 158 and goal is to make 154 by showtime. I follow the bev workouts and 30-60 minutes cardio 6x a week. For me the more cardio the better. Also, I am DRAINED lately,plus this training is intense (engineering classes) but I am sensitive to carbs. Can I add in a scoop of oatmeal here and there? My problem the last show was that I was very close to first and second, the judge said I needed to lose another 2lbs of fat. Any advice is appreciated!!!!! |

At 5 weeks out i wouldn't be doing 60 mins of cardio 6x per week. If you are I would def add at least 1/2 to 1 cup of oatmeal. Your body probably needs the extra carbs to boost your metabolism. If i remember correctly the 3C diet is the most strict with only carb ups on mon and thurs right?

I wouldnt mix and match diets. If you are on the higher protein protocol with the 3 x carbs ups or whatever, and then you go adding extra carbs, you wont get lean. realize all that protien coverts to glucose anyways...
If you are drained, ditch the high protein 3 carbs up approach to a more moderate carb intake and less protein, or gut it out, just dont mix and match.... Traveling, tuna in packets, stay in an extended stay suites and cook what you need, Mass Maker and MP shakes if you do have any carb meals...it can be done, **** you can make oats in a coffee pot, warm the water without running it through the pot and then dump them in, wait another 5 mins and you have oats.... Jared that is correct - Mon/Thurs carb up. A friend of mine, who is a WNBF pro said to carb up every 3 days if I don't feel well, just depends on how I look.
I will add the 1/2 cup of oatmeal - thanks My stats are: Weight: 158 BF via electronic - 5.8% Skinfolds - 6.2% So, as you can see, I am still too fat- thus the more cardio. I am also taking lean out, ultra 40, UMP, MP, Efa gold, antioxidants and Hot Rox. I just ordered Density. |

I wouldn't consider 6.2% at 5 wks out fat. But like J said if your gonna add some moderate carbs in lower the protein some and account for the protein that is in those carbs.

Awww, ok, so in the morning - replace the 5oz of chicken with oatmeal maybe?
Should I still eat the grapefruit? Btw - I am 5'9'', just to give you a visual, I am not stocky like a lot of LW's, but I have a small frame. |

Jason, What adjustments would you make to the 3C Bev diet while cutting out the carb ups?
I have to say that I used Bev for the first time for the Nov show - the 3C diet and it killed me, but I have never in my life became so lean and got below 160 lbs. But, I felt terrible for 2 months before the show. |

I really couldnt say. I dont use that approach, use the supps all day long, just not that diet approach, mine would be completely different though I can tell you that.
Check out the Contest prep section the thread that was started by KellyKel I helped her out and thats how I diet...... I can give you a hint for your bodyfat, Id put you on 222P/208CHO/40F and give you spikes up to 258 in carbohyrdrates on some training days....but like I said thats a whole different approach. If you are familiar with Layne Norton, this isnt that far off his, I just do more cardio as I like to eat and it helps me stay full and strong.... Good Luck |

Jason - two more questions?
What would be the carb number distinction between oatmeal, sweet potatoes vs Fibrous carbs? Would it be a bad idea at 5 weeks out to try this approach for a week? |

I wouldnt have an issue myself switching, but I dont want to stear your wrong, its a personal choice.
To be safe why not try the protein fats I told you about and do a carb cycle like this: 100 carbs low days from starchy carbs, veggies are free 150 carbs medium days from starchy carbs, veggies free 200 carb high days (maybe squats and back day if you heavy dead). Protein needs to come down as I recommended and you need chart the protein in your carbs....huge mistake not to do that, calorieking can help so can fitday.... You are lean and are carrying 9.7lbs of fat, 6 would probably be shredded, I think in 5 weeks you could easily accomplish that with the above.... Id break cardio into two sessions morning low initensity out of bed for 40 mins and 20 mins HIIT after workouts....on off days do more light intensity for the second, play around with the cardio schedule.
