Okay, so this is a not so great a question to post but I wanted to see if anyone has had the same issue once upon a time or now. Before I go on, I did want to state that I am extremely clean in terms of hygeine from head to toe and what I am experiencing is actually frustrating. So I have stuck with a strict diet for well over a year. What I mean by strict is no garbage foods or cheat meals, no excessive sugars and barely any white carb sources. It has not impacted me psychologically to eat this way considering I do not have a craving for junk food. However, I am fatigued at times but do feel much better when I am not at work so I am not sure if this is a result of the combination of diet, work, gym, other life stuff, etc... or to specifically
one of these factors. That's problem #1. Problem #2 - as I have become quite lean, probably 5-8 percent body fat all year round at 150 pounds (5'ft 6 in height), I have started to experience a smell in the underarm which initially starts and does not continue thereafter (this is the only time I get this smell). It basically smells like I have a sandwich under my arms. The smell does not radiate across a room but I know it's there and should I chose to speak to someone, I am sure it will not be pleasant for either of us. So I did some research on the internet and saw quite a few possibilities ranging from deficiencies in Zinc or Magnesium, excessive protein intake, vegetable based diet, excessive meats or poor digestion. Since my diet has been status quo for at least a couple of years I am not sure if it has finally taken its toll on my body, my body is changing at age 40 or I am taking too many supplements. Please note that I am also allergic to fish & chicken which really limits what I can eat in the course of the day. As for working out, this is the usual routine: Monday - Bi's & Chest Tuesday - Back & Tri's Wednesday - Off Thursday - Shoulders & Traps Friday - Possibly Abs if not Sunday Saturday - Legs Sunday - Possibly Abs if not Friday Cardio - 1/2 hour 4-5 times a week (low intensity) Entire workout takes between 1.5-2 hours max. Diet: 45 minutes before first meal - 4 Muscle Synergy, 1 scoop Glutamine Select 2 Whole Egg Omlette with 3/4 cup of egg whites cooked in less than a teaspoon of olive oil. 2 pieces of organic 14 grain bread 1 fruit or 1 cup - pink grapefruit or blueberry or strawberry or orange 1 tablespoon of Barlean's Oil (Omega 3-6-9) - no fish in the mix. 2 scoops muscle provider 1 serving of NOW Adam Multivitamin, 1 grapeseed extract, 1 COQ10 (Co-Enzyme Q10) and 1 digestive enzyme capsule (Garden of Life - Omegazyme Ultra), 1 Alpha Lipoic Acid (R-Ala), 1 Lean out Meal 2 .60 ounces of nuts - sunflower seeds, peanuts or almonds 1 cup of vegetables either green beans or peas or cauliflower or brocolli 2 scoops of Ultimate Muscle Protein Meal 3 6-8 ounces of beef - can be filet mignon, lean ground beef at 93%, roast beef (not cold cuts), veal cutlet but I remove as much breadcrumb as possible since Mom makes this for me. 1 cup of cooked brown rice - Success Boil in the Bag 1.5 cups of salad - cucumber, bell pepper (red, yellow, orange), romaine lettuce 1 Alpha Lipoic Acid, 1 digestive enzyme capsule, 2 lean out Meal 4 .60 ounces of nuts - same as above 1 cup of vegetables - same as above 2 scoops of either Ultimate Muscle or Muscle Provider Pre-workout - 8 Muscle Synergy, 15 minutes later - (3)7-Keto, 2 Lean out, 1 L-Carnosine capsule 15 minutes before workout - 5 Density. Right before workout - 5 Density. During Workout - 2 Scoops Glutamine Select, 1 Scoop Creatine Select and 1 capsule of Twinlab Taurine all mixed together - sip all the way through entire workout. Plenty of water intake on top of the drink. Post Workout before I leave gym - 5 Density Meal 5 3 Scoops Muscle Provider, 1 or 2 scoops of Mass Maker and 10 grams of glutamine powder (AST). 1 scoop of dry fruit powder (6 grams carb with 1 gram sugar), 2000 mg of Buffered Vitamin C and 1 scoop of Organic Acai (barely any carb or sugars) which is like an antioxidant stack. 1 Alpha Lipoic Acid capsule, 1 Pycnogenol capsule, 1 digestive enzyme capsule. 1-1.5 hours later usually ready to sleep - 1 scoop glutamine select and 4 Muscle Synergy. Can anyone provide any insight on my issue or possibly give me their honest opinion on the diet, etc...I would appreciate it. Thanks! |

WOW.... not a common question for these boards! Congrats I am kinda stumped on this one. Other than having an endocrinologist examine your hormonal changes, and a dermatologist look at your glands, I would like to ask you if you just started with the Muscle Synergy?? An excessive amount of L-Arginine has shown to create some armpit gland changes (smell and persperation in particular). That is my only shot at this....

Im wondering if it has anything to do with your VERY high protein intake at Meal 1 which by my calculations is 76 grams. And at Meal 5 which is 77 grams. At 150 there is NO way you are assimilating all that protien, no way.
For someone at 150 and 8% Id advocate 240 P at the high end, if you eat a more balanced diet, you could probably do 220P/250C/40fats and stay the same leanness and improve strength and fullness of muscle....just my two cents... Are you also adding Ultra 40 and Mass to meals, if so your intake would be well above 300 grams per day on a 138 lean body mass person... |

Thanks for the posts. To answer both posts above, I have been using Muscle Synergy since it came out so it's not the first time.
I was using Ultra 40 up to 8 months ago. I got my blood test back and it showed my Vitamin B levels to be extremely high. As for Mass Amnios, I might take 4 in between meals or sometimes between the two body parts I work on at the gym. Please also note that I have always been steroid free and have never used this pro hormone **** on the market. Maybe too much protein??? |

One other note - I am really not a sweater. When I lift I do not sweat. The only time I sweat is when I am into cardio for 15 minutes or if I run (I love to run 3 miles in the heat during the summer because it rips you up like crazy) I will really start sweating when I am done running and it's a non-stop dripping sweat.

Yes, your lean mass is 138 and you are eating close to 300 grams of protein and minimal carbs and 150 grams protein are at two meals.... |

Ah...you're overdoing the protein shakes/powders. Way over. If those are alternative shakes for that given meal and only done twice a day listing as a meal, then ok. I can see there is just too many shakes.
Take a week off the shakes, then use only 2 per day. Seems like you're trying to gain but use whole food. Frank "Lift and be happy. Lift harder and be excited...Get Excited, Get Big!!!" |

Thanks guys. As I would prefer whole food, I figure since chicken, turkey & fish are out due to allergies, I would use the protein powder as a replacement there. I know then meat is my primary choice but they do say that too much meat is not good for overall health. In any event, I will cut down on the shakes and see what happens. Just out of curiosity - would you consider the diet way too low in carbs as well?
Thanks |

Mike, if you're not competing or preparing for a contest, give a week of detox. Are your allergies from constantly eating the same foods? Back off all the protein sources from animal protein, including fish, eat foods you have not eaten in months or years. Concentrate on some grains, fruits and vegetables that you have not eaten in some time. During this time, don't lift heavy, do more cardio, but not excessive (like 1.5 hours of spinning).
The final day, go for some junk food like some pizza. Slowly introduce the items you have an allergy to see if it is still there. Always vary your foods. Don't eat egg whites 365 days a year. Change protein sources, but stay away from soy. Hope this will help. Frank "Lift and be happy. Lift harder and be excited...Get Excited, Get Big!!!" |

Frank, thanks for the response. As for the allergies with chicken & fish, first fish was a problem well over 20 years ago and then around 1991 chicken/turkey started to give me the same symptoms as the fish. I guess as the chicken was concerned we probably ate chicken maybe twice a week but I would eat 4-5 drumsticks or a couple of thighs. It's kind of odd that the symptoms are those of fish. Then recently around 4 years ago, shell fish (shrimp & lobster) started to give me a problem which caused stomach pain & cramping.Almost like a food poisoning effect.
I will certainly take your advice! Thanks |
