Well, depending on your age and height and things like that.....I always tell my clients nothing over 24% for an average. I usually try to stay below 20% all rear-round; so when the time comes for comp. training you don't have to work so hard at getting down.

Good Luck!

A medically safe % is about 12 for a woman. In reality, if you lose your monthly cycle, you're in a too low zone. Some can go a low as 9%. You need to maintain bodyfat or supplement a higher fat diet with omega fatty acids and you might go lower. By doing this, your body will be able to produce hormones. When you don't produce enough, that's when your cycle stops.

The bottomline is hold enough fat to maintain muscle production. Being shreded should be for a contest only.

Let me clarify. Some genetically gifted and those that choose to do body building as a profession can maintain very low levels of bodyfat, perhaps, all year long.

People like me, I hate looking shredded, turning heads all the time, ya know?! Therefore, I choose to add some babyfat for a few months out of the year, like from September to May! Aram knows what I'm talking about.

I actually perform better on the heavy weights by maintaining a higher bodyfat. SUPERSIZE ME!!Big Grin

Good Luck to you StrongChick...I am 30, 5'10", 150 and 14% b.f (off-season) and this is very easy for me to maintain.

I don't turn as many heads as Frank does I'm sure but I get my fair share. Tee Hee

Well, I definitely have some work to do!! I am just getting started back after a six-month layoff with a knee injury. But, I am 5'0", 125 lbs- so I definitely want to lose some bodyfat!! Razz

It's not going to be difficult! Keep saying that and it won't be tough on ya. I took six months off. Too much going on and I love the feeling of getting pumped up! Each workout I do, I feel THE POWER!

Keep on going and you'll shed any fat you've saved up for the winter.
