Hi,
I have a question for you ladies out there that have competed in figure/bodybuilding shows. My girlfriend is going to compete in her first figure show in about 7 weeks and we are wanting to know how monthly menstrual cycles can be best timed for the show day. She takes birth control pills so she can manipulate when her period falls to some degree. Would it be better to be just comming off of a period the week before the show, the week of the show, two weeks before the show, ect. Any input that you all may have would be greatly appreciated! |

I haven't competed in any figure contests or women's bodybuilding, but...LOL
Chances are that's going to be the least of any problems. Once you get your bodyfat percentage within contest conditioning, your monthly friend disappears and usually won't come back until your body fat is higher. For some, it begins to stop as early as 12%, others will continue up to about 8%. It's just going to depend how low your bodyfat gets and how your body will respond to low percentages. Frank |
