I am looking to compete in my first figure show in 2007. I live in Sacramento and there is a show coming on Feb. 24th. This gives me about 17 weeks to be ready.

I still have a ways to go - I will have to work very diligently and consistently to be ready. I have seen articles of other women starting at over 20% BF and diet down in 16 weeks. I am currently at 25%BF

My first question is - is 17 weeks a reasonable amount of time? Can anyone recommend a countdown diet? I hear that Beverly doesn't do client profiles anymore, is that true?

Any and all support and advice will be greatly appreciated.

Coco

CoCo,
First I am no expert! Just here to give you a little support!!!! In my opinion-yes 17 weeks should give you enough time to get pretty well prepared for contest(if not very well! Depends on your determination too). You may not be perfect-but always keep in mind this is your first one! Use it as a starting point to learn what you need to do to improve. You have to start somewhere!!! I say start here-do what you can to prepare-walk on stage full of confidence and pride in your accomplishment!!! I am preparing for my first contest on Oct28th...I am not 100% happy with my body but like my husband says "this is my rookie year!" Now I know what I have to do to be better next time around.
I don't know for sure about your Beverly question...but I can't imagine they have quit that!! I would email or call and see what they can do for you.
I wish you the best of luck! Hopefully this helps a little!!!

Thanks so much for the feedback. I am definitely trying to keep in all in perspective - it is my first show. I know that whatever condition I'm in. It will be the best of my life!

Best of luck on your upcoming show. Let me know how you do.

Hey - just replied to your myspace message too....I've been out of touch for a while. I tried to do a new client profile, and it seems the website is under construction currently so I am not sure about your question either. I'm fairly sure they would direct you to the articles they have archived. There are some for Contest Prep for various weeks out from the show. The articles are excellent and provide lots of good tips. Remember to start early practicing posing - even though you are only doing qtr turns it is a much bigger deal than I thought it was!!! I was totally unprepared and couldn't even make eye contact with judges although I did remember to smile. Oh well, these things take practice. Even though I was sooooo amateurish, I still had a great first-show experience. I'm ready to hit the stage again and do better next time. But until then I'll....lift, lift, lift. Smile
