Hey gals. I am 29 weeks pregnant right now and since I have been pregnant I've had to come off my normal diet with just having protein shakes and add in some whole foods so I can get the right nutrients to my baby one being more calcium. My doctor said that the protein shakes were great for my to take because they add in extra protein so for one of meals I have been having 1 cup of FF milk, 1 scoop of MP and strawberries mized as a shake, that way I am still getting my protein, calcium and all the nutrients that come with eating strawberries as well. For a little while i was using soy milk and my doctor said that was ok to use as well, but knowing me I have to get the advice from my Beverely family. Which would better to use? Soy or FF Milk?

Also at night before I go to bed I have been having one scoop of Choclate MP with 1/2tbs of natural PB, is this an ok meal to have before bedtime?

Thanks girls!

Organic.

Watch out for that label!!

If you're really considering ORGANIC, only go with labels "100%" and/or certified on anything stating to be "ORGANIC".

Simply anything marked "organic". It is a very abused marketing scheme much like "Fat-free". Many think that means it is very healthy but it will be loaded with sugars and preservatives.

Hey Penny! Congrats on your pregnancy and I hope all is getting well. Let me help you with your decision... NO SOY WHATS SO EVER!! All the problems with todays fomulas for babies and Infants are directly linked to the horrible Soy Concentrates as a protien source and of course the high-fructose corn syrups.

Now considering these issues, it would make that much more sense to NOT drink any soy during your pregnancy so to NOT provide your baby with such a bottom of the barrel protein source. BY ALL MEANS, USE THE FF MILK!! In fact, why not try the 2% or Whole milk in your shakes? Sure there is saturated fats, but they are anabolic and the baby needs those fats for growth. In addition it will help slow the quick absorption time of the MP!

As far as the PB goes, try to limit that as Peanut Allergies have become a major cause of reported infant deaths. It is still unknown at what age the Peanut is allowed to be introduced into the diet, but certainly, to be safe it would be better to avoid it if you can. Peanuts are in EVERYTHING, so it is not exactly possible to avoid everything. Just small amounts is all. That is just my opinion.

Any ladies on these boards have negative experiences with PB or Peanuts with their pregnancies??

Thanks so much for in the info chunkybutt Smile

I did not even think to not use PB during my pregnancy, but you are right about allergies. Do you think Almond butter would be better? I just like eating a MP brownie with something on top at night before I go to bed.

Sure! Almond butter is perfect. Actually ALL Nuts and Seeds are perfect. The actual Peanut is NOT a nut. It is a Legume in the disguise of a nut and a very misleading name too...

But yes, Almond butter is great!
