Mustard has become a staple in my competition diet.
Does anyone have a favorite?
I've tried horseradish mustard, dijon style, mixing w/hot sauce, jack daniels brand. There are some interesting ones, but some have sugar added. I would really like to try the wasabi mustard, but it has sugar added to it.
I've heard Giant Eagle brand is good, anyone tried?

Any other condiments suggestions for competition prep?

I love the chili mustard, it actually tastes like chili sauce mixed with mustard no sugar 0 calories.

Unfortunately, by the time its show prep dieting... i have no taste buds. I usually stick with spicy and plain mustard. But I'm the same guy that looks forward to chewing his Ultra 40's during precontest dieting.

I've researched online. There are many varieties of flavored mustards.
I'll try to make my own chili/jalepeno version, I may even add my own wasabi.

For those not on a strict diet- Whole Foods has a champagne/shallot mustard that's great. There are some w/bourbon, wine etc. too
I don't think J would approve for me right now.

actually the ultra 40 taste pretty good. just make sure your awake enough to tell brown from white so you don't chew your MASS instead, you'll definitely be awake after you bite into a couple of those.lol. i'm not sure if bitter is enough to describe it.

have faith....dig deeper....it's supposed to hurt

I'm with you NattyGirl, I have a problem just swallowing them much less chewing them.

I posted in another thread but want to mention it in here too since its specific to mustard. Mix a little of the Walden's pancake syrup with yellow mustard and you will get something similar to honey mustard. Breaks up the monotony ya know.

What is Mustard Oil? When I go out to eat and ask for mustard, it often has this in it. Is it ok to eat pre-contest? It doesn't seem to change the macros on the mustard.

Also, what about white wine or sugar, if listed in the ingredients? Seems add a trivial amount of carbs- should we stay away from those ingredients?

Let me clarify-I don't go out TO eat. I tak my food and get salad or veggies that I may add the mustard to. I may just take my own if I can't be certain of the ingredients...but that is ALOT OCD, maybe...
