Not the best topic to discuss but I am wondering if anyone on here has had a colonoscopy. My doctor has ordered one and I am concerned about the prep. Apparently I can only have clear liquids which will severly limit my caloric intake... any input would be appreciated.

Hi Marissa, I have had several colonoscopies...with the most recent one being a couple of months ago. There are different prep methods, however, for the one that I had a couple of months ago, I too had to be on a liquied diet for the 24 hours leading up to the procedure. I rotated between clear chicken broth, tea, and apple juice. It was difficult, but not unbearable. The procedure itself is a piece of cake. The worst part was the prep. But when its all over, its really not that bad. Good luck to you! By the way, you cannot have anything dairy based.

Had my first one last year , the prep for me was no biggie, when your on a very restricted pre contest diet for months at a time and have to endure that kind of sacrifice, being on a clear liquid diet for 24 hours is a piece of cake! They knocked me out for the procedure so that was no biggie either. The nurses new me and were kidding saying the camera was hooked up to the internet and the whole world would be seeing Mr. North Carolina like they never have!
