Hello,
What are some of the best bodybuilding gyms you know of. It seems like many gyms these days have become overly corporate and are actually trying to discourage bodybuilders from training there. What are some old-school style bodybuilding gyms that are either owned by bodybuilders or don't mind if you make some noise or actually sweat while training? |

I haven't had any problems with any gym, only some of their personal trainers/staff. Maybe they weren't really CFTs. LA Fitness has a lot of those types.
Which gyms are you talking about and where? Frank "Lift and be happy. Lift harder and be excited...Get Excited, Get Big!!!" |

Nat,
Sounds like your talking about my gym, American Family Fitness in Pontoon Beach, IL. Great gym, great people that go there! There are some big guys that go there, and I am female, sometimes I feel intimidated, but then again I think we're all there for sort of the same reason..lol. One thing about my gym is that it has not gone corporate, and not all CFT's bothering you, etc. I just wish the cardio equip had little tv screens in them all....lol... |

Get this, I visited a YMCA in a small town in Ohio and one of the rules posted on their board was "No loud grunting noises."..haha.. I workout at a YMCA in my hometown and it's a great place but definitely not a "bodybuilding/figure" atmosphere. I work there and get a free membership so I make it work but it would be cool if I could be at a gym with people who share my lifestyle.

Hercules Gym in Syracuse NY. I used to live in Da 'Cuse and I can tell you no other gym is better. And they sell Beverly products. Joe is a great old school guy. When you first meet him you might think he doesn't like you but once you show him you are serious about training he warms up to you. I learned so much there in terms of weight lifting. Everybody is focused on their wkouts but they will spot you and give you advice if you ask.
Dam I miss the guys and gals thee. Great people first and then great bodybuilders. If you stop by, tell them Harper sent you. 300lbs to 200lbs to rite now 240lbs. i will get back to 200lbs & it will be ALL muscle. |
