Many of us have concerns about Type 2 and related types of diabetes (1.5, LADA, etc.). All we can think about is how to beat this autoimmune disease and find a cure. While Canada and some other countries have made developments in a cure using a form of stem cell research, USA is lagging, or will not yet provide its OK to use this type of treatment. Here is an interesting article relating to insulin resistance, sometimes a problem we as body builders can run into.

All too often, body builders become sodium "sensitive" believing it will blur their definition, even though they're off season or they're 16 weeks out, already cutting sodium intake.

Remember that SODIUM intake should be generally watched, but salt is always blamed. It is SODIUM. Look at labels and realize there are many, MANY types of sodium in processed foods. That is the SODIUM we must watch. Make your table salt, SEA SALT and try to get your iodine from other sources.

Enjoy the article.

WOW! Very thought provoking article! So, as I understand it, too low salt in the diet can also be a killer??!! Scarey thought.

Perhaps in the long run, but the short term effects are there and many can relate. I have an increased NaCl intake for the past two years and I can't remember the last time I caught the common cold. Now that I say that, ~cough~, HA! Big Grin How often have we heard body builders getting sick with colds/flu in the middle of their contest diet? It seems to always happen.

Jason, this kind of falls right in with white potatoes, doesn't it? I'm still curious to see what the end results are with the GDA protocol. I'll PM you later.
