I am pretty new getting into cycling. It is my new sport and I will be doing it as a sport (joining a cycling team and biking to and from work/home/school). Just curious as to if anyone here cycle's and trains for bodybuilding. I'm looking for nutrition and training advice. Frank, I hope you have some input here Smile

You can do it, but make sure you have plenty of calories. Never ride upon waking on an empty stomach. Treat it just like HIIT.

Thank you Frank! One question I do have is about whole wheat toast or bagels. I LOVE them and they are great fuel. However, for fat-loss, not the best idea. The only time I really eat them are before a ride a 20+ miles. Yea or Nay?

Hi Stephanie,

I've been racing for twelve years and currently race full-time at the professional level. I'd like to help with any questions you may have.

I'm going to try to cycle and train for a show this year. I used to ride mountain bikes a lot, and have recently switched to a road bike. I'm riding it several times a week to stay in shape through the summer, and plan to use the bike as my cardio during training this fall and winter. My hope is that it will help develop my legs a bit more which are my weak point. I'll see how it goes!

Stephanie like you I have picked up the habit of road cycling. I put road tires on my mountain bike and have been logging mileage every week. I did a 33 mile ride with a group that about killed me however made me stronger and now rip off 20 miles 2-3 times per week. I have cut back on gym time and pushed up bike time while the weather is nice. I think a happy medium is good for most. We have a new baby and therefor it takes me 45-60 min round trip to the gym or I take off with my bike for 2 hours and log 20 plus miles. So when I have time to work out I maximize the time by cycling. I am glad I found the sport. Btw my legs are gaining strength big time.

Btw I eat the fit for life sprouted grain bread and it is a great choice to eat. I love making egg and cheese sandwiches with organic cheddar and 3 eggs on a ezekial english muffin. Really helps me in the morning.
