I have just begun personal training and am enjoying it immensly. I was hoping a few of you on the board might have some tips on how I can increase my background and knowledge in the area in efforts to be as experienced as possible. Currently I am certified through NSCA. All the best

I love my job and I'm sure that you will too! I would suggest reading as much information as possible...magazines, online articles, great posts here on the Bev Board, ask fellow trainers. Go hang out with some of the old powerlifters. Body builders have some interesting techniques, but not all are really proven and as far as listening to them about diet, use sound mind and reason. I also suggest going through some of the information on this site: www.exrx.net There are so many orgs for certification, it is hard to know which route they're really following. I still prefer ISSA. I thought ACSM was really something, but I don't know why they're not ACE accredited that can be used as credits for college courses. ISSA is and some others. I also suggest a second cert, either from another or adding to by using one for nutrition, special populations or something of that nature. Also, considers some courses on anatomy and physiology, etc. Frank "Lift and be happy. Lift harder and be excited...Get Excited, Get Big!!!"
