Tonight I visited my local Beverly retailer and was shocked to hear about Code-X. Apparently this may threaten our right to buy our supplements without a doctors perscription.

I just found about this and started looking into it. Here's one website with some info:

http://ahha.org/codex2.htm

I was wondering if any of you have heard of this and know about how it may impact us?

There is a program on television talking about the pharmaceutical companies are controlling much of the definitions of ailments. If the product claims to "cure" symptoms that are classified as diseases, it is a drug. They are the only ones that can produce and market these items.

If obesity is claimed a disease and the products from Beverly are curing obesity, then the products are drugs. Many herbs, minerals, etc., are now banned as a result.

Other ailments or problems such as "restless leg syndrome" or fibromyalgia (I understand it is now a disease but don't know for sure), A.D.D. and so forth, are now considered diseases. Anything that is used to treat a disease is now to be classified a drug. Who is allowed to produce and sell drugs?!!

Is this true, Fitdoc? I know someone was working hard on selling a book. LOL

It will be interesting to see how this will pan out because they can get rid of OTC things because they're bad for you, but how about tabacco?!!!

I don't understand how the pharmacutical companies get so much power!! It's maddening! Obesity a disease??..ok if that's what happens, but is there on person on this board that is obese?? Not likely!! How can they try to take these supplements away from people that are just plain healthy!!

I'd love Fitdoc's take on this to.
